Musicians for the Carlebach memorial include: Rabbi/Cantor Monty Turner -- guitar & piano, Joy Krauthammer -- Percussion, Steve Berman -- Harmonica, and Soloists Dana Stone Goldberg and Sandy Lessner.

Synagogue musicians perform Jewish traditional and renewal liturgy & music, Jewish "rock" and pop, world, folk, Hasidic Niggunim (wordless melodies) and chanting with lots of congregational participation. Bring your tambourine!

Reb Shlomo Carlebach, z'l, was the "Dancing Rabbi" who, on the 16th anniversary of his death, is still bringing people together through his Torah, music, stories and spirit. Reb Shlomo Carlebach channeled countless niggunim (wordless melodies) and composed thousands of songs. He performed world-wide: from Haight-Ashbury to New York, to Israel, Russia, India and Poland. Shlomo's songs aroused and uplifted millions, many of whom are still devoted, Torah-learned, teaching and performing disciples today. Those who were privileged to know Shlomo on a personal level knew that he was a holy Rabbi-- a true Torah Chassid.

Reb Shlomo would talk to thousands (in parks, prisons, hospitals, airplanes, concert halls, camps, retreats, streets, simchas, schools and synagogues) each on a personal level, inspiring, purifying and often healing them. Shlomo's teachings, music and videos spanning decades are available on his website www.rebshlomo.org. World-wide, there are increasing Shlomo minyanim/prayer groups. They are listed in Kol Chevre, the annual memorial book published in Jerusalem, and filled with recollections of Reb Shlomo and his chevra.

Joy Krauthammer, Shlomo Carlebach's percussionist and co-producer of his last years' Los Angeles concerts, said, "Everyone knew that Shlomo was late to his own concerts, but they didn't know it was because of the mitzvot he did along the way to the concert hall."

"The universal language and deep soulful power of music bridges cultures bringing the universe closer, which is what both Danny Pearl, z'l, and Reb Shlomo, z'l, stood for: cross-cultural understanding," said Joy Krauthammer, a long-time participant in Daniel Pearl World Music Days.

"Music, mamash, truly brings us closer to our own hearts, to the Source of All Blessings, and to each other. With harmony, let's embrace our common hearts to lift humanity across ethnic and religious differences. " - Joy
